Here are some examples of relative clauses which we saw in the reading text:
1: Roger hoped that he would be selected for the company;s fast track scheme, which prepared employees for management positions.
2: He worked much harder than Carl, who never worked late.
Here are some examples that we heard in the listening exercise:
3: In time, I could become a senior editor, which is a much better position.
4: and I still wasn’t given my promotion, while Suzie, who started here after me, was given one.
In each case, the relative clause gives extra information about the noun that comes directly before it. We start the relative clause with WHO if the noun is a person, or WHICH if the noun is a thing.
